Free Face Painting Designs For Children

When I first decided to learn face painting, I looked all over for free face painting designs For children.

I went to the library, bookstores and searched the Internet. I had dabbled in One-Stroke Painting (a neat decorative painting technique made famous by Donna Dewberry) so I figured I could paint a kids' face at the same "pretty good" level that I could paint a mug for Father's Day. Um, not quite.

Once I really got into the research, I couldn't believe the level of artistry that was out there in Professional Face Painting. The world of Professional Face Painting was filled with real artists from all over the world. I'd never seen an island sunset painted on someone's face that looked so real I wanted to grab my coconut drink and head for the nearest hammock.

The designs were absolutely breathtaking, but not quite what I was looking for. I had fifteen three and five-year-olds coming over and I wanted to paint sweet little designs on their cheeks. Not to mention the attention span of a three-year-old didn't lend itself to a full-blown Caribbean sunset.

In the course of much more in depth research, I learned these basics:

- Use the right paints (in other words, if the packaging doesn't specifically say "face paints" or if they're for some other purpose besides face painting, don't use them on skin!)

- Use the right supplies (this includes brushes, sponges, glitter, etc.)

- Choose designs that are within your skill level and that are appropriate for your audience.

- When you are just starting out, choose just a handful (maybe five or six) designs and offer those to the children. Practice them religiously so that you can paint quickly and keep the line moving.

- Speed is key. Nuff said.

- The beauty is in the details. Small touches like glitter or highlighting can make a design from "okay" to "Wow!"

Look for Free Face Painting Designs that show you step-by-step directions; you will find the learning process much easier.

Practice some basic, popular designs like hearts, butterflies, flowers, snakes, fish, spiders, balloons and you will have enough designs in your arsenal to make most kids happy. Preschool Coloring books are great places to find Free Designs like these because the lines are bold without a lot of detail.

In the end my event was a huge success. Everyone went home with a little butterfly, heart, monkey or sun on their cheek. The kids were so proud of their cheek art and I was so proud to be able to paint them.

Cool Toys For Car Kids - Lego Racers, Remote Control Cars, Etc

If you walk into any classroom in the country, you're going to have every little boy and girl pegged within a few minutes when it comes to what they're into. That girl reading National Geographic loves animals, the boy over there doodling in his notebook and ignoring the teacher is the artist, and the kid holding his fists in the air in front of him going "Vrooooom, vroooommmmm! EEEEEE!" is obviously the one who's into cars.

It's one of those fascinations that, for many of us, begins in early childhood and carries right on into adulthood, and then right on into old age. While in real life, we may have to settle for a more affordable and modest vehicle, leaving the hot rods and custom machines to racers and movie stuntmen, the escapism of a good car chase flick, or just a walk through a classic car show leaves most adults with a smile on their face, thinking about what we could drive if only we didn't have to hold down a job and maintain a respectable living!

If it's your son or nephew who's nuts about V8 engines and knows more about fuel injection than you do, here are a few words of advice: Encourage that. Whenever you go to work on the car, let the boy tag along, explain to him what you're doing and allow him to help out. At the very least, you're going to raise a kid who can take care of these things for himself when he reaches driving age. And secondly, keep encouraging his infatuation with cars with the right toys.

Some of the coolest cars toys actually come from Legos. Lego racers, for instance, are pretty cool. They let the kid put together a race car either based on the instructions, or they can build one of their own design.

And of course, you simply cannot go wrong with remote control cars. Back when we were kids, these were pretty much the cool toy, and they still are. Sure, you can play racing video games these days, but do racing games let you build your own race tracks in the backyard? Do you get the same viscera thrill racing in a video game that you do hearing the whirr and buzz of the electric motor of a remote control car? Can you set up a bunch of used soda cans and try to stage spectacular crashes into the stack? Remote control cars offer room for imagination that's hard to attain with an Xbox controller.

And of course, if your kid is still a bit young for something as complex as a hundred piece lego set or a remote control car or something, there are plenty of things for the young, car loving child. Wooden toys, for example, They may not fulfill that need for speed, but they're a safe, easy alternative when your kid is just obsessed with automotives and you know he's not ready for something made for older children just yet.

Why Children Need Toys to Grow and Learn

Once your kid has graduated infancy, the learning process becomes a little more complex. A year ago, they were learning how to eat solid food by chewing on a pillow. They were learning what would eventually allow them to read by staring at the mobile above their crib going around and around. Now it's time to start thinking about reading, mathematics, basic building and organizational skills, further social development... the list goes on.

The wrong way to go about teaching these skills, and certainly you know one or two parents like this, is to treat the educative process too much like... well, academics. You don't want to turn learning into something boring, with worksheets and assignments and so on. Learning should be fun, and if you teach that at a young age, it will remain with your child through their whole life.

So really, toys are a pretty important part of learning basic skills in a fun, exciting way. If you hand a kid a blackboard and tell him to write the alphabet, he's going to get bored. But, if you hand the kid some alphabet fridge magnets, he's going to write his name on the fridge. If he gets a little ambitious, maybe he'll piece them together to say "Hi Mom", or any number of things. That's what making learning fun is about, treating it like a game, not like a chore. In fact, that's what learning is all about in the first place. It's all about pursuing your own curiosities, conquering your own challenges, and enjoying life as it comes.

From infancy on, playing is vital to cognitive, social, and physical development. When you see a kid putting together his Go Diego Go playset, he's playing, yeah, but he's also learning a little something about how the world works, how to set goals and reach them. When you see a kid pitting his Luke Skywalker action figure against Darth Vader, he's just having fun, but he's also learning something important about human interaction.

You know, in psychotherapy, there's a lot of stuff that's kind of ambiguous, stuff that's up for debate, but the importance of playing is not amongst them. No competent children's psychotherapist in the world disagrees with this notion: Playing is critically important for human development.

Worth noting is the Sudbury School Model of Democratic Education. This model is named for the Sudbury Valley School, where playing is seen not only as vital and necessary, but as something very serious, something not to be compromised or restricted. Eighty percent of Sudbury graduates went on to graduate from college, and most have gone on to become very successful in life.

We can recommend any number of excellent toys to encourage positive development during play, from developmental toys to educational games. There are hundreds of great items to choose from, but you know... as long as you're nurturing your child's interests, as long as you're providing them with a degree of fun challenge, it's very hard to go wrong. Playing with a variety of fun toys is one of the most important steps to becoming a successful, happy adult, so keep your children playing, keep them active, keep them learning, and, eventually, they'll thank you for it.

Whatever style of riding toys you decide on you will need to consider your budget as the electric ones are quite expensive. They also have to be stored inside as they cannot get wet this could be a problem if you have no space. Simple plastic ride on toys are excellent as they are durable, affordable and can be left outside if need be. Although you should try to buy quality ride on toys to ensure they are safe and durable for your child. Buying something so simple will help to develop your child and is so much fun as well that they do not understand that they are learning.
